To preserve the Southlands Area as a haven for the people of Greater Vancouver who appreciate a semi-rural scene where they can walk, cycle, ride, bike, purchase fresh local produce; and enjoy open vistas, animals, the Fraser River, and a tranquil place amid an increasingly busy and noisy city
To encourage the City of Vancouver to enforce and maintain the special RA 1 zoning and the Southlands Guidelines for buildings, fences, hedges, open ditches, low street lighting, and slow speed limit for all traffic. The society will establish and maintain good relations with City Hall.
To support the Southlands' Agricultural Land Reserve status (the only such area in Vancouver), the Green Zone designation, and all agricultural activities such as nurseries, farm animals, market gardens, farm gate sales, and farmers’ markets.
To support the continued work by the city and by volunteers in the preservation, improvement, and extension of trails, parks, greenways, and golf courses within and adjacent to Southlands.
To encourage the community, including various ratepayers, residents’ associations, and public and private organizations, in ongoing efforts to revive and promote salmon streams and other wildlife and natural habitat, for recreational and educational purposes.
